Food & Recipe: Kebab Sticks

I owe much of this credit towards the recipe from my dear friend, Fira. I don't exactly remember when, but there was this one time a group of friends of mine held a potluck meet up and everyone was to chip in and bring some food. Being the regular cook, Fira brought her homemade kebab sticks that I remember tasted SO SO good! Her dish finished in a blink of an eye and I told her I must remake this one day! And so here I am today, my first recipe (well not mine exactly) on My Amethyst! :D

The methods and ingredients are super easy cause if it weren't, I wouldn't have the courage to make it myself. I'm new in the kitchen department I tell you hehe..

Here it goes!

  • 5-6 Garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • BBQ sauce (Brand: Heinz, honey and garlic flavour)
  • Black Pepper sauce (Brand: Life)
  • Chicken/Beef chunks (or any other meat that you fancy)
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Capsicum (in contrast colors like green or yellow)
  • Lidi
  • Olive oil
  • Grill pan, blender, food brush
  1. Soak the lidi in water for a few minutes, and leave it aside.
  2. Blend the garlic in a blender (duh) and 1/3 cup of water.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 part Black Pepper sauce and 2 parts BBQ sauce. Add the blended garlic in as well. Sprinkle some salt. Taste the mixture and add on whatever you needs more of.
  4. Marinate the chicken/beef chunks in the concoction you made just now and leave it overnight in the fridge or if you're pressed for time, 3-4 hours could do.
  5. Leave the marinate sauce aside a bit for use when grilling.
  6. Chop the capsicum in chunks sized as well.
  7. And now you're ready for the fun part: Take the lidi, and alternate the cherry tomatoes, chicken/beef chunks and capsicum chunks until there all done.
  8. Heat your pan with a little bit of olive oil.
  9. And grill! (Best to have a lid to help retain the moisture of the meat.)
  10. Brush on the marinate sauce while grilling and rotate the lidi for even grilling.
Serving: 5 - 6 people

There you go! :D

I was soooo happy seeing that the dish I made was loved by all! I mean, it is a big achievement for me seeing that I'm such a noob in the kitchen. The chicken and meat was tender and juicy, the sauce had seeped in well since it was marinated overnight, and the veges also balanced the entire meal. I love to bite a chicken chunk and tomato all at once in my mouth. Trust me, you have to try that! Once again, thank you Fira for the recipe! I owe you big time! :D

P/s: Sorry for no step-by-step images of the entire process. I didn't plan on making a blogpost out of this recipe, but I will try my best to next time! Keep me in your kitchen du'aas! haha..

P/p/s: I forgot what is lidi in English and I'm to lazy to look it up haha. Not funny Shea.
